Summary
I qualified
as a solicitor in 1969 and began practicing on
my own account in October 1971.
My real interest
within the profession throughout articles and
ever since has been in trust work, which also
of its nature also included wills
and probate. It has always been "unfashionable"
and "dull as ditchwater" in the eyes
of most of the profession.
I left practice
in about 1983 and worked for a long time at the
sharp end of business, in many aspects of the
catering and food industry, whilst retaining work
for a selected number of trust clients.
In 1998 I developed
another business at an hotel I operated, using
a Florida built Airboat to take visitors on the
shallow waters of the Dornoch Firth to see the
abundent wildlife. If nothing else it taught me
about the frailness of mortality.
I returned to
practice in 2001 working with DWT in Hagley where
I have specialized in trust tax and probate work.
One thing has
not changed in over 30 years, not many people
have a will.
